TU has impacted organizations throughout her career, creating HR structures for virtual environments and small startups. TU leveraged her stellar organization and management skills to assist the organization’s growth trajectory by adding specialties such as in-house recruiters, managers, HR business partners, benefits, talent acquisition, and leave of absence specialists while integrating HRIS systems and benefits administration systems. TU holds a Master of Science in Career and Human Resource Development as class Valedictorian and a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
After 20+ years in Corporate HR, TU has dedicated her pursuits with start-ups to mid-sized companies as a Freelancer HR Consultant. She is passionate about the #HR4HR community and assisting other HR Professionals in their growth journey. She is not only the founder of the www.hr4hr.work weekly HR Networking group, but she also offers her mentoring services and community truly FREE OF CHARGE!
The Upstate NY transplant now resides in the Bridle Trails area of Bellevue, WA and is raising 2 teenage boys while enjoying cooking, hiking, and mentoring HR college graduates. Her passion is helping other HR professionals reach their full potential by offering mentorship, resources, HR connections, and a safe place to be heard and valued! Thus, the #HR4HR community was born!
Katie Corum has 25+ years of HR experience having worked for local, national and international companies for various industries in South Florida, in Healthcare, Telecommunications, PEO (Outsourcing), Media, Waste Management, Academia Publishing, Cultural Arts, and Architectural Design. In June of 2022, Katie decided to follow her dream by founding her own company called SOAR HR Consulting, LLC, offering Fractional HR and HR Consulting to small and mid-size businesses across the state as well as nationally. She is an Adjunct Professor at Palm Beach State College, teaching 12-week SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP prep courses, as well as SHRM Essentials to Management certification classes.
Katie has volunteered for 10 years with HR Palm Beach County SHRM in various roles (Hospitality, Community Relations/SHRM Foundation Chair, President Elect, President and Past President). During her Presidency, Katie led a Board of 28 members and a chapter of 420 HR professionals (4thlargest HR SHRM Chapter in Florida).
Katie has both her PHR and SHRM-CP certifications, along with a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from Briar Cliff University (Sioux City, Iowa) and an MBA in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University (Davie, Florida).
Katie Corum has a passion and strong desire to help others – particularly professionals who run businesses. HR is an integral part of all organizations and she has developed a proficiency in the field that can significantly benefit small business owners, startups, nonprofits, and HOA Presidents as well. She strives to be a volunteer in her community as well thru VPK, HR Chapters, various Chamber of Commerce, ProVisors, PTA, and Junior Achievement groups.

♦ During her Presidency for HR Palm Beach County SHRM, Katie and her HR Palm Beach County SHRM Board were recognized in the 2016 HR Florida Review Magazine ‘Chapters receive 2016 HR Florida Chapter of Excellence Award’ (Nov. 2016). They also won 3 state/national awards for HRPBC which were: SHRM Silver Excel Award, SHRM Chapter Champion Award, and Chapter of Excellence Award.
